Interfaith Worship Service
We welcome Jamal Rahman as our guest preacher today! Jamal is a Muslim Sufi minister originally from Bangladesh, a co-minister at Interfaith Community Church in Ballard, a co-host of Interfaith Talk Radio, adjunct faculty at Seattle University, and travels often teaching classes, workshops, and retreats locally, nationally, and internationally. He is the author of The Fragrance of Faith: The Enlightened Heart of Islam, and a co-author of the forthcoming What's Really Important. We welcome him to our pulpit and it will be a full morning – see below!
In the midst of our annual post-September 11 memories and feelings and with a political landscape that too often builds on differences and fear, Pastor Tim and the Church Council wish to build towards a different future. Our guest preacher’s “passion lies in interfaith community building. He remains rooted in his Islamic tradition and cultivates a ‘spaciousness’ by being open to the beauty and wisdom of other faiths. By authentically and appreciatively understanding other paths, Jamal feels that he becomes a better Muslim. This spaciousness is not about conversion but about completion.”
